Comparison framework

Zonli alternatives: what else should you compare?

A useful alternative is not merely another mattress with “futon” in the title. Compare the construction and use case you actually need.

Traditional cotton shikibuton-style options

These emphasize a firmer, simpler floor-sleeping approach and may require more routine airing and maintenance. They are worth comparing if natural-fiber construction and a traditional low profile matter more than plushness.

Tri-fold foam mattresses

Tri-fold designs can be easier to stack and deploy for guests. They are a different format from rollable or foldable futon-inspired mattresses and may occupy more rigid storage space.

Conventional mattresses and toppers

If the bed will stay assembled every night, portability may have little value. A conventional mattress or topper-based setup can be a better comparison class than a floor futon.
